I was late again. While I don't remember his exact admonishment, I'm pretty sure it had something to do with him not having to wait on me. I have vague recollections of stepping out the front door just in time to see the yellow school bus already turning around and pulling away as I headed down the drive.

I am not trying to be overly symbolic, but I cannot escape the beauty of it. The wounded Christ entered my wounded memory. The One who carried scars of suffering became the place where my own hidden pain finally began to heal.

Before long darkness had settled in completely. Slowing my walk, I realized nothing was any longer recognizable. In the darkness the woods looked entirely different than they had in the daylight. After about half an hour it came to my attention that I had circled by here before. I was lost and did not know the way home.

Just a few weeks ago, while visiting with someone we will call Bob, he began sharing with me his struggle to sleep through the night.

The rains had fallen hard and fast. Me and my side kick Dick, as most called him, his real name was Shawn, were out enjoying the aftermath of the storm.
