Is There One?
"The king says, 'You are going to eat at my table.'"
Where is that one? Where is that one? Yeah, that one. I can show kindness to him.
I'm telling you, this is feeling good.
David said, "Do not fear."
Mephibosheth was scared. He had been hunted down and pulled out of hiding. He was afraid David was going to kill him because that was the custom of the day. When a new king from a different family lineage took the throne, they would eliminate all the heirs of the former king so no one could claim a right to the throne.
But David did not do what everybody else did.
He brought Mephibosheth to his own table and said, "Do not fear. I will show you kindness for the sake of Jonathan."
What really gets me is that David gave Mephibosheth all of Saul's land, his servants, and his household. In other words, he restored his kingdom. And all that was produced from those lands belonged to Mephibosheth.
David said, "You are going to do all of this for him, but he is going to eat at my table."
He restored his inheritance.
