This episode of Finding Our Way was recorded in the study at my home in Marshall Texas; three years ago on June 6, 2023. It's hard for me to believe Larry and I have been doing this for more than three years now.

Chatgpt's summary:

This conversation centers on the transformative power of God's kindness and how many believers gradually move from seeing God as angry, punitive, and waiting for them to fail, to discovering Him as a loving Father who never lets go of His children. The speakers reflect on their own journeys of repentance—not as turning toward a distant God, but as having their minds renewed to recognize the God who has always been near. They discuss how fear-based religious ideas shaped their understanding of God, only to find that His patience, mercy, and steadfast love continually contradicted those expectations. The discussion emphasizes resting in God's acceptance rather than striving for performance-based approval.

The latter portion of the conversation explores the biblical story of Mephibosheth as a vivid picture of grace. Just as King David sought someone from Saul's fallen household to show kindness "for Jonathan's sake," the speakers see a reflection of the gospel, where God's kindness is extended to humanity for the sake of His Son. Mephibosheth's feelings of unworthiness mirror the way many people view themselves, yet David restores his inheritance and welcomes him to the king's table. The story becomes a powerful illustration of God's heart: seeking, restoring, and embracing people not because of their merit, but because of His covenant love and unwavering kindness.
