You’ve Always Belonged: Life in Christ Before the Foundation of the World

I've been thinking a lot lately…About life. About what it really means to live in Christ. My friend Larry and I have been talking through some deep truths—truths that are starting to shift the way I see everything.

This isn’t about religion. It’s about origin. Identity. Union. And something the gospel tells us:You’ve always belonged.

Life Didn’t Begin at Salvation—It Began in Christ

“In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.” — John 1:4

The life we live is not separate from Christ. It never has been. He is the source, the sustainer, and the substance of all life. Scripture says, "In Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28). That’s not poetry. That’s reality.

We exist in Him. Always have.

Before the Fall, You Were Chosen

One of the verses that’s been reshaping my thinking is Ephesians 2:10:

“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God prepared beforehand…”

Read that again. You were created in Christ—not after the fact, not once you “got saved,” but before the foundation of the world. God associated you with Christ before Adam ever fell.

The “fall,” in Greek, suggests a descent. Like a plane landing. Not an accident, but a transition. God had a plan—and a provision—before we ever stepped into brokenness.

Jesus Came to Reveal the Truth

When Jesus took on flesh, He didn’t just show us how to live—He showed us who we are. He entered our humanity, carried our sin, and cashed the check we had written with our own rebellion.

The cross wasn’t God changing His mind about us.It was Him revealing His heart for us—unchanged, unwavering, eternal.

God’s Not Holding Anything Against You

Here’s the real game-changer:

“God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them.” — 2 Corinthians 5:19

Let that sink in:God is not counting it against you.He never was.He was in Christ, pulling us out of our darkness, restoring us to Himself.

So What Now?

If you're reading this, you're alive.And if you're alive—your life is in Him.

You were created in Christ for good works, not to earn anything, but to walk in everything God planned from the beginning.

So live.Love.Be loved.Make Him known.And never forget—you’ve always belonged.
