Face to Face
Have you ever thought about how God sees you?
In a previous post I talked about this powerful truth: God’s unfolding plan is union. Our union with Jesus isn’t some afterthought—it’s the very heart of His purpose and pleasure.
Let’s look again at Ephesians 1:4, especially in the Passion Translation. It says:
"And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an unstained innocence."
Let that settle in—seen. That word carries weight. The Greek word used there, katenōpion, means being “in the closest possible proximity”—face to face. This isn’t about some distant holiness. This is up-close, personal, relational purity—through our union with Jesus.
It was always the plan.
God’s plan has always been to present us face to face, holy and blameless in love. Before we were ever “lost in Adam,” we were found in Christ. He saw us in Him before the foundation of the world. That is the judgment of God—the way He sees.
Not based on what you’ve done. Not based on how many times you “got it right.”This isn't about earning something.
2 Timothy 1:9 makes that clear:
"He gave us resurrection life and drew us to himself by his holy calling on our lives—and it wasn't because of any good we have done, but by His divine pleasure and marvelous grace..."
We didn’t qualify ourselves. We were qualified before time began, and that truth is now being unveiled through the revelation of Jesus. He dismantled death and manifested immortal life. This is our gospel!
John 1 says the Living Expression—the Word—was face to face with God from the very beginning. That same Word made all things. That same Word became flesh. And that same Word includes you and me in His face-to-face fellowship with the Father.
Genesis 5 says God created Adam in His own image and likeness. That likeness is still the heartbeat of the Father’s plan. You have always been in His heart.
God’s plan was never about sin management. It’s about restoration to face-to-face union. Life is a circle dance—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and we’ve been brought into it through the Son. Jesus became a man and stood in Adam’s shoes. He refused to be Adam. He was the Last Adam, and in Him, all of humanity is represented.
As a man, Jesus learned to hear and respond to the Father. He grew in wisdom and stature, forging that face-to-face relationship on our behalf—as us. And in Him, we are included. We co-died with Him. We co-rose. His story is our story.
Rest in this truth:
You are seen. Face to face. Holy. Blameless. Innocent. Loved. Not one day. Now. Always. This has always been His plan.
